Our guest for this instalment of Crash Test Kitchen is our old mate Dave.
Now Dave is a bit of a dark horse, it seems, when it comes to matters of the kitchen. Just recently, after all our years of knowing the lad, he declared that he knew how to make a cheesecake.
And not just your fridge-set cheesecake, mind you - the full-blown baked variety. So Lenny and I found this recipe on the internet, supplied the ingredients and set Dave to work.
To make a baked cheesecake you’ll need a pop tin - one of those baking tins that tightens with a clip on the outside and has a false bottom. Making the biscuit-crumb base and filling is surprisingly easy and the ingredients are straightforward.
Dave is apparently a bit of a perfectionist when it comes to cheesecakes and he was a bit hesitant when we didn’t have exact quantities of some ingredients on hand. Watch the video and see if the results aren’t good enough to get your mouth watering.

Not a bad lookin cheesecake, but the long-haired git makin it wasn’t wearing any hairnet. Imagine finding one of those red devils in the middle of your desert.
Well Dave
A true achievement in culinary excellence!! What a coup for a young Aussie lad……….so many talents (hidden) that you have…what next we ask???
I must agree with Big Al.
Dear Dave,
Well done! I would however, like to claim some credit as you learned the basics in the Butt Hutt kitchen under my tuteledge. Good to see that you have retained those skills. I was impressed (and amused) at the cooking langugage being used and look forward to a meal when you return.

PS You could do with a hair cut.
Dave,
I loved your hair and your cheescake.. Looks good and I am here in Atlanta Georgia, USA.
I’m glad you “remastered” this video, as I wasn’t able to get it to play the first time I came to your site. Yum to cheesecake and cheers for rolling with the punches.
Jenny
P.S. A hairnet? Who wears a hairnet in a home kitchen?
Oh my god! This is great! I’ve now watched two videos on this site–both featuring alcohol as a necessary ingredient.
I like your style.
P.S. No hairnet necessary–there was so much cheesecake batter being flung from the mixer that it sorta plastered the hair down and NOTHING was gonna make it move until it met with a good washing.
I regret that I wasn’t able to view this video.
I just discovered your site yesterday and will have watched all of the videos by tonight’s end.
I think you guys are great. You have a relationship not unlike you see in this old movie series called “The Thin Man”. Myrna Loy and William Powell(?)
Also, knowing I will have seen them all before tomorrow, I’m already missing you. You should see another movie called “Return of the Secaucus Seven”, directed by John Sayles.
I felt the same sense of sadness that you won’t be there anew tomorrow.
As if I won’t watch a few again.
Looking forward to making the Chocolate Cake, the first episode I watched. Also Mussels, French Toast Souffle with maple strawberries and walnuts, and chicken soup. Probably will end up trying them all.
Thanks for the great fun!
And education.
Alas, the cheesecake video is AWOL.
Dave, I don’t care what big al says I think you’re beautiful…….hurry up and make us a cheesecake…… wonder if they’ll let it in at the cricket?
Dave is one hot guy. Why does Waz give him such a hard time. Does he want a girlfriend?
well, I was doing a browse and found this segment but could not access the video….and cannot find the recipe - HELP
Hi Jeanne, fixed now - you should be able to watch the Flash video and grab the recipe from that. Now that we’ve got quite a few episodes we are gradually adding the recipes, starting with the most popular instalments.
Thanks Waz….you fixed it good!
