We did it all for the gnocchi!

Welcome! We’re Len and Waz, a couple of foodies who are not afraid to try something new, different and potentially disastrous in our sparsely equipped kitchen.

Click here to view the small videoWhat you’ll find here are clips of two normal people attempting new recipes we’ve never tested, as well as some of our old favourites that we’ve tweaked and refined. And it’s all for real. Things go wrong, stuff tastes like crap and, potentially, people get hurt. And we’re not afraid to show it!

We’re new to the blogging thing, so we’d love your feedback on everything from our content to our culinary tastes and even technical matters, such as the best video formats to use. What you see right now is the basic package; we’ll be making improvements to the site as we blog and learn. By the way, about us: we’re a couple of Australians currently living in Edmonton, Canada. Just in case you were interested!

So here’s our first attempt at home-made gnocchi with a very simple, classic pesto. Hope it gets your juices flowin’! The gnocchi recipe came from here. Watch the vid for the pesto — it’s dead simple! When trying something new, Waz reckons it’s always good to choose a fairly simple version of the recipe.

  • Wow! Gnocchi is a type of pasta. And here I was thinking it was some game played by lawn gnomes which involved little metal balls being thrown underarm at a wooden jack! And isn’t Gnocchi a race of aliens in the Star Wars universe…you know, the little hairy guy that runs into Obi Wan at the cantina at Mos Eisley spaceport.

Truth be told, I couldn’t even get the audio or video to work on this site- but that has more to do with my Etch-a-Sketch computer and an internet connection that makes Droopy the Dog seem fast!

  • Hey Jace,

I think I’ve fixed that problem and you should now be able to play the video, unless you have a very old version of Windows Media Player.

    Waz.

  • You have inspired me to make new attempts at retrieving the coffee doser i dropped into my alcove/black hole. Thank you.

  • Look, it’s a fair effort. I’d hate to actually come right out and compliment you, but I’ll kind of beat around the bush so you’re not actually offended but can certainly detect my hesitancy in coming forth with praise. That’s really the message I’m trying to get accross, that I am not unhappy but that ‘adequate’ is not really something that we should be satisfied with at all, is it. I hope I have made myself clear – Keato, Toowoomba

  • I love y’all’s very low-key version of gnocchi….I’ve been wanting to make it myself by I thought I needed some kind of special potato shredder… I’m intrigued and it gives me a bit of confidence to try it myself.

    Kudos to you both!
